Cuisine American
- ½ pound butter 2 sticks, softened
- ¾ cup + 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- ¾ cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 ¼ teaspoons vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon lemon juice
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup rolled oats
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Pinch of cinnamon
- 2 ⅔ cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 ¾ cups chopped walnuts
Cream the butter and sugars: In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Add wet ingredients: Beat in eggs, vanilla extract, and lemon juice until smooth.
Mix dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, oats, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Gradually add to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
Add mix-ins: Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Shape cookies: Using a cookie scoop, portion dough into balls (about 3 tablespoons each) and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Slightly flatten each ball.
Bake: Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 18–20 minutes, or until edges are golden brown but centers are still soft.
Cool: Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
-
These cookies taste best when slightly underbaked for a gooey center.
-
The dough can be chilled for 1–2 hours before baking for thicker cookies.
-
Store baked cookies in an airtight container for up to 5 days or freeze dough balls for later.
