Ingredients

  • 3 cups dark chocolate chips
  • 1 can 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract optional, enhances cherry flavor
  • 1 3 oz box cherry gelatin powder
  • ½ cup maraschino cherries chopped (plus extra halves for garnish)
  • Red gel food coloring optional, for deeper bloody swirls

Instructions

  • Prepare the pan: Line an 8x8-inch square pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang on the sides for easy lifting later.
  • Melt the chocolate: In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine dark chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and butter. Stir continuously until smooth and fully melted.
  • Add flavorings: Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla extract, almond extract (if using), and cherry gelatin powder until completely incorporated.
  • Mix in cherries: Gently fold in chopped maraschino cherries. Add a few drops of red gel food coloring for a deeper crimson hue if desired.
  • Pour and swirl: Spread the fudge mixture evenly into the prepared pan. Press a few halved cherries on top for garnish and swirl lightly with a knife for a “bloody” effect.
  • Chill the fudge: Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until firm enough to slice.
  • Serve: Lift the fudge out of the pan using the parchment paper. Cut into small squares and serve chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add 1 tablespoon of cherry syrup from the maraschino jar to the fudge mixture.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
  • To make it extra spooky, drizzle melted red candy melts over the top before chilling.
